TWIST – we hope to see it by the end of the year!

With the end of the year approaching, nervousness is growing as to whether we will see the first public competition in the new TWIST programme this year, which we have written about before. We have at least partially good news for you!

There will be a successor to the TREND program, a popular way for companies and universities to use grants to fund research and development projects to make production more efficient or introduce new products or services!

According to our latest information, in December we will see the announcement of sub-programme 1, i.e. Applied Research in Strategic Areas. This is the successor to the popular TREND programme, i.e. support for R&D projects, but reflecting current themes.

The very focus of the first public competition is highly topical – projects dealing with the field of artificial intelligence will be supported. The exact form of the competition is not yet fully known, but we already know that large enterprises will be able to apply for support in addition to SMEs – provided there is effective cooperation with a research organisation or an SME. Funding will be available mainly for personnel and operating costs, tangible and intangible assets and services.

Unfortunately, applicants will have to wait for sub-programme 2, Innovation into Practice. The successor to the highly innovative The Country for the Future programme is expected to be announced for the first time perhaps in the course of 2025. In this case, the focus is expected to be on SMEs and funding will again be mainly for wages, operating costs, property and services. We firmly believe that the long wait will be worth it and we will see a very interesting and worthy successor to a popular programme.
